Publishing on the Internet
through digital books.
For the author who wishes to
publish their works or test the market before going into print, the digital book
through AppleBookshop
Publishing
is the most cost effective method.
Only about 5% of the thousands
of new manuscripts submitted to traditional publishers get into print. In
fact 90% of new manuscripts get reject letters without even been read.
It would be fair to say that
more than half the new manuscripts submitted for publishing are poorly
written, weird, offbeat, offensive or plain boring. This leaves a
substantial number of manuscripts that could be described as well crafted or
even beautiful stories. The truth is, it is the hand full of people in the
publishing house that is deciding what the general public can read.
The attraction of publishing
through the digital book concept, is that the market decides by offering
your book to be read and reviewed by a wider audience. This means
that the author is not at the mercy of the editor, the agent or publisher, to
determine what the public should read.
We think in the future some
writers will be happy just publishing on the Internet. There is a demand
for well written fiction, especially romantic
fiction, erotic
fiction, detective stories, futuristic fiction, children's fiction and
period fiction (e.g. turn of the century, early 20th century).
This new media gives new opportunities for creative writers to use this new
technology in new ways. Stories can be written supported by background sounds,
such as horses running or mood setting music. Rather than have just still
pictures, you can have animated graphics on the page. We are eager to see
the first children's book with animated pictures.
If you have a manuscript
gathering dust, then try AppleBookshop
Publishing.
There is no start up fee for
manuscripts. We pay an annual royalty of 50% on net annual sales for
published works. For unpublished manuscripts we pay royalties of 35% for a first
author's manuscript. This compares with traditional publishing that may
pay only 5% for a 1st novel and 10% on gross sales to established writers . The
only manuscript that will not be published are manuscripts that appear to be in
breach of the Obscene Publications Act 1959 (English law), Defamation Act 1996
or the Libel Acts, 1843 & 1845 and manuscripts that are so lewd or badly
written that they are incomprehensible.
The author retains copyright
ownership and editorial control of the book and is free to publish elsewhere.
All AppleBookshop
Publishing
requires is the freedom to publish in electronic form on the Internet
during the copyright period.
The author supplies a publish
ready manuscript ( i.e. proof read & edited) in electronic form,
a digital book cover (optional), a summary of the book and a short
biography of the author. If you require professional assistance with the
preparation of your book, then look at just a few links at Services

If you have a manuscript ready
